Get Well, Peter Rood! (And How You Can Help)

From Joanne Poyourow, of Environmental Changemakers (ECM):

As many of you know, ECM began as a working partnership between me and Peter Rood. For nearly eight amazing years, this fruitful partnership has invented projects, brought speakers to town, created connections, and generally tried to create positive change.

Last week, suddenly and without warning, Peter Rood was hospitalized. He has undergone two major heart-related surgeries. Right now he is recovering, but the road ahead will be a long one.

How you can help Peter:

Peter cannot see visitors or receive flowers. Your focused thoughts and prayers are very much needed. A card or personal note would be a wonderful idea. In lieu of physical gifts or flowers, a fund has been set up for Peter. Checks in any amount are welcome.

Mail correspondence to Peter Rood, c/o 6700 W. 83rd, Los Angeles, CA 90045

How you can help ECM:

(1) We could use extra hands in the Holy Nativity garden any Thursday afternoon (NOT Thanksgiving Day), a casual 3:30pm till dark, no experience necessary;
(2) We need to finish digging and planting a partially-complete new garden bed at Holy Nativity;
(3) We will soon need to pull down the chayote vine and turn the Holy Nativity compost pile.

If you can help with any of these, please jump in.

GatheringsI would very much like to connect with you and hear your ideas about Change-Makers. I will be at the Holy Nativity garden on the following dates and
I invite you to drop by:

  • Thursday, Nov 21, Garden Gathering, casual 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m., classroom 2. Bring potluck snack or hors d'oeuvre to participate.
  • Saturday, Nov 23, Garden-and-chat, 9:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m., Community Garden at Holy Nativity.

Advisory Circle
I am looking for a few people who would like to form an Advisory Circle to help me with carrying forward change-making activities in Peter's absence. If you are interested, please email me at envirochangemakers@gmail.com.

Thank you for keeping Peter in your thoughts!
