With the help of volunteers, TMV/V member Mel Bowerman literally broke ground on the new Natural Arts Garden at the Learning Garden. Having secured funding to start it up, Mel designed an educational garden where kids and adults can learn about dyes and fibers that come from plants--and how to use them artistically. In this first work party, we launched into clearing ground and erecting the chicken-wire armature that will form the walls of raised beds. In phase two, these will be woven with fruitwood branches and other salvaged twigs.
It was a beautiful day in the sun, enjoying the garden, each other's company, our great progress, and free lunch! Watch the TMV/V calendar for announcements about future work parties.
